Your first appointment is about understanding your needs and goals, and working together to start a plan for healing and wellness.

  • Plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early.  This will give you time to complete your paper work that will help us understand your needs around insurance coverage, health status and how we can best support you with our services.
  • Bring copies of your insurance coverage and an up-to-date list of your current medications and any notes you may have written down about what you are experiencing or want to work on.
  • Because we believe treating the whole person best supports healing, you will have your vitals signs taken and be asked some questions about your overall health and wellness.
  • You will then be scheduled with a therapist to complete your plan.
  • You will receive a statement of the therapist's privacy policy and a statement about your rights and responsibilities in therapy.
  • First appointments usually last 30-50 minutes.

Your second appointment is about completing a plan and setting goals for your time with the therapist or others on the care team.

  • You and the therapist will use this appointment getting to know each other, completing your plan, and deciding if the therapist can help you.
  • You can expect . . .
    • To be asked to complete additional forms
    • To be asked some questions about yourself and what brought you to therapy. Answer in your own words or bring out the notes you wrote before the first appointment. Be as clear and thorough as you can be so that the therapist can help you.
    • To feel listened to and comfortable talking with the therapist. You should feel free to express yourself and talk about what is important to you. If you do not, let the therapist know so that you can discuss what to do about it.
    • At the end of the session, to talk with the therapist about a plan to help you. This may include continuing to meet with the therapist on a regular basis, or the therapist may refer you to another specialist who may be better able to help you. If your therapist recommends that you continue to come to appointments, you should have a clear idea of what to expect to happen during those appointments.
    • Most therapy sessions last about 50 minutes.

Ongoing therapy or treatment…

  • To have you and your therapist our group leader reassess your treatment and plan at least every 90 days.
  • For you and your therapist or group leader will review your goals on a routine basis and have the opportunity to update or change those goals.
  • To be empowered and encouraged to actively participate in your treatment and work toward resolution, independence, and self-management of your plan and progress toward goals.
